Try booking.com to see what hotels available near the train station, at what price and reviews from people who have stayed at any specific hotel.

I stayed at The Hotel Bristol when I stayed in Zurich. I read about it on the RS website and found it to be suitable for an overnight stopover. It was close to the train station, clean and totally suitable not to mention decent value as Switzerland can be a very expensive place to visit.
Look it up, I found it on booking.com, then booked the hotel directly ( just in case)

If the purpose of the visit is to see and experience the mountains I would not base myself in Zurich. Zurich is a city, and good if you want to to city things, but people usually do not come to Switzerland to do city things.

So maybe base yourself closer to the mountains. And you do not need organised tours where you are brought to tourists shops the guide gets a kick back from. Switzerland has a nationwide mass transit system. You can visit things on your own, on your own schedule.
