Hi! We fly into Zurich on Christmas Day and planned to stay one night before heading to Lucerne. Any suggestions for what to do that day since most things will be closed or is it better to go elsewhere. Thanks!
We usually go straight on to Luzern; it's an easy one-hour train ride. Even if everything's closed, Luzern will be beautiful, especially as it gets dark and the lights reflect on the water. I wonder if the boats will be running on the lake? We were just there, and you could ride an hour out, [to the Mt. Rigi stop], and plan the return as the city lights are reflecting on the lake.
Safe travels!
I too would recommend Luzern.
Christmas Day (and the 26th) has a standard Sunday timetable on public transport. No problem getting from Zürich airport to Luzern.
I would however be worried about finding an hotel anywhere. Do you mean this year? It is now one hour short of Christmas Eve. You need to move fast to have any hope of finding a hotel with less than 48 hours to go.

This circus show has a matinee performance: https://www.zuerich.com/en/visit/salto-natale.
There are still rooms bookable in Luzern, but it of course depends on the number of travelers.
Thank you for your responses. What day trips do you recommend while using Lucerne as a base for 3 days? Should we buy the Swiss Pass or not?
