Hi, We are flying into and out of Zurich and plan to spend 2 days in Lucerne, to recover and take the cogwheel up to Mt. Pilatus then on the Murren for 4 days of hiking, I was planning to buy the Swiss travel pass for 6 days but am wondering if that is most efficient or should we get the Jungfrau Travel Pass? thanks for any and all comments or suggestions, we are a family of 7 adults
Go with the Half fare Card (if you have a phone that will work with the SBB AP so you can buy tickets on the go)
or the Swiss Travel Pass.
These give you more flexibility when the weather does not cooperate.
The Half Fare Card is the least expensive option depending on how many trips you take
The Swiss Travel Pass is most convenient option, it allows you to board without buying tickets you just show the pass with your passport as ID.
However, with the Swiss Travel Pass, you still have to buy tickets to use the lifts to go above Muerren and Wengen. The STP will give you a discount.
Thanks so much for the reply’s , I guess there’s no perfect solution, but it seems like a Swiss travel pass will be most convenient.
I disagree that the Swiss travel Pass will be most convenient - a lot of what you’ll want to do around Mürren won’t be covered.
Get the half fare card + reduced Jungfrau Travel Pass. But no need to buy far in advance, just have it the day before you need it in case any plans change.
