Zurich Hotels

I'm staying in Zurich for a couple of days in early May, 2026. Does anyone have any hotel mid-range recommendations in a good location?

This probably isn't what you're looking for but I'll suggest anyway. We stayed at the Radisson Blu Airport. https://www.radissonhotels.com/en-us/hotels/radisson-blu-zurich-airport

Like you, we were only in Zurich for a couple of days. We had a very early flight out of Zurich and wanted to stay near the airport at least the night before. Since our stay was only two nights we thought it would be silly to stay in two hotels. The Radisson is only a 10-15 minute train ride into town. We bought day passes for 26 Francs that easily paid for for themselves to get us back and forth. I'd call it a mid-range price when you consider how expensive Zurich is, but you can decide that.

I used the Home Hotel in Zurich for 4 nights last December. I liked the location as it's quiet, a 5 minute walk to the lake, next to a shopping mall with grocery store and several decent places to eat, and 100 yards in either direction from the tram and train stops.

It's been six years but we really enjoyed the Hotel Adler (it was listed in Rick's travel guide).
And, when we go back to Zurich I'll definitely stay there again.

I've had a good stay at BW Plus Zürcherhof last May.
The single room was cheap for Zürich, not sure how expensive doubles are!

Thanks everyone for the suggestions! I won't book for a while, so I'll appreciate any additional recommendations.

I stayed in hotel Allegra lodge with my parents. I think they also have apartments as well, it's close to Kloten train station (5 minutes walk) and close to ththe airport (15 minute bus ride). And very quiet. I stayed on the newer side? And they have a gym and provide bottled spring and sparkling water. Wifi is fast too.

Here's a really good recommendation - look at Rick's suggestions and see if anything grabs you.

And for a coupla days you might actually want to stay out of town, like Bern or Lucerne.

We also stayed at the Hotel Adler last year in the old town section of Zurich and it was clean and nice. I don’t really understand why people always try to steer people away from Zurich, I thought it was a lovely town on the lake with some great restaurants.

Zurich is expensive so “mid-range” there is probably higher than you are thinking, but the hotel Adler mentioned above is nice, convenient and has a good breakfast. It is right on the tram line from the train station and walkable as well.

Just to second Allan's comment above that if you need to be at the airport at an awkward time and don't want to change hotels, the airport Radisson Blu is convenient, perfectly pleasant and just about reasonably priced for Zurich. (I used to stay at the Hotel Bristol in town, but the pricing there is now bonkers for what you get). It is easy to get in and out of the city proper - I do a lot of late-arriving and late-departing 24 hour stays in Zurich on the way to and from long haul travel elsewhere and can go from the hotel to swimming in the lake in 40 minutes and for 7 CHF each way.

And margie, I like Zurich too.

Although the name has changed since I last stayed there, I'd recommend the Fred Hotel, which is right across from the Zürich Hauptbahnhof - https://fredhotels.ch/en/fred-hotel-zurich-hauptbahnhof/ . Here are a few reasons I like that hotel and location.....

  • It's an easy walk (only about two minutes) to the Hauptbahnhof . Since the airport is only a few minutes by train from the main station, it's a good choice if you'll be heading to the airport or elsewhere in Switzerland after sightseeing in Zürich (especially nice when you're hauling luggage).
  • There's also a stairway leading to a huge underground mall only a few metres from the hotel, and that connects to the station.
  • As I recall, it's right across the street from the Sihlquai bus terminal, which is where a number of city tour buses depart from. This is one website from the official Zürich page - https://www.zuerich.com/en/tours-excursions/city-tour-through-zurich-by-bus .
  • I found the room to be very modern and clean and the staff were wonderful. It's been a few years so hopefully that hasn't changed.

I'm not sure if I would consider it to be "mid-range". I didn't check but the rates should be on their website. Zürich is an expensive city to visit so you'll need to budget accordingly.
