Where does RS Tours stay in Zurich? The tours often stay in hotels he does not list. We are catching a train to Vienna a few days later. Other recommendations for a 3/4 star hotels would also be appreciated.
For which tour? The Best of Switzerland tour starts in Luzern and ends in Bern.
We like the Adler. Small rooms, but that is the norm in central Zurich. The Adler includes breakfast, which is not always the case.
We tried the newly remodeled Hotel Scheuble last week. Very nice people, but the same small rooms as the Adler and breakfast was extra. We don’t eat enough to pay CHF 24 per person for breakfast.
We are going to try the Radisson Blu at the airport later this month. More convenient for the flight, breakfast included, and looks like the rooms are a bit bigger.
You say you are catching a train to Vienna a few days later. Unless you have a specific reason to be in Zurich I would recommend heading to Vienna early. Zurich is okay for a day, but it isn't that interesting. If you are just looking for a place to be before heading to Vienna, I would suggest staying in Luzern. A train from Luzern to Zurich is quick and easy to get to a train to Vienna.
To answer your specific question, I used Marriott points and stayed at the Marriott a few blocks from the train station. Excellent hotel.
RS Tours do not stay in Zurich. We have also stayed at Hotel Adler, clean rooms, great location. I like Zurich and have enjoyed the time we’ve spent there.
The only reason to stay over in Zurich is to rest a day then train to Vienna to see the countryside. Munich is busy with October festivals and we have been there and done that. I am just trying to add days on before our RS tour starting in Ljubljana. Train to Vienna, then to Budapest and finally in Ljubljana. Rick’s hotels have been reliable and centrally located. Bill
Bill,
Trains from Zurich to Vienna, then to Budapest, and then to Ljubljana, will be extremely time consuming. Have you plotted out these train trips? Not sure how many days you have planned before your tour, but you will be on a train a lot.
We just stayed at Hotel Adler for the same reason you are staying the night in Zurich. It’s about a 10 min walk from the train station. We had a lovely room on the top floor. The elevator went out when we were checking out and were grateful for luggage help from the front desk.
We also returned to Zurich when we were returning home. We stayed at the Hyatt Place at The Circle at the airport, and really liked that. Probably would stay there coming and going next time.
