Zurich hotel near train station

I have searched a lot on here but not able to find what I am looking for. Can someone suggest a hotel in the Old Towne part preferrably near the train station? Thanks!

Did you try the filters on booking.com? Foregiveness if you've done that. Your earlier post asked for a budget-friendly hotel, which is a challenge in Switzerland.
If you have any kind of points, there's a high-rise Marriott with fantastic views, right on the river, about a ten minute walk from the train station. I mention this because sometimes it's easier to use points on chain hotels. Good luck!

Yes, I tried Booking but it was hard to tell which hotels were near the train station. Did I overlook something? Thanks

Hi - have you tried putting in Google maps Zurich HB and selecting Nearby then Hotels? It shows their location and average per night. As Pat mentioned, the Marriott is close and I have stayed there. It does have great views. Good luck.

At booking.com, you can select map view and see the location relative to the train station.

Since after 1990, when I stayed at Limmathaus, near Limmatplatz, I don't think there has been such a thing as an inexpensive hotel in Zürich.

A few years ago, when my late partner wanted to go to Zürich, I was looking at hotels on the Limmat, near the train station. I kind of like the looks of Limmathof. I was going to stay there, but we never made the trip.

Hotels that are within an easy walking distance to the Zurich train station are Hotel St Gotthard, Hotel Adler, Hotel Montana, Best Western Plus Zurcherhof, Central Plaza hotel, and Ruby Mimi hotel. The price varies depending on the size of the room that you choose and whether you choose free cancellation or nonrefundable. They are in your general price range. I have not stayed at any of these hotels, but you can see photos on tripadvisor.com and hotels.com and booking.com to see if any of these appeal to you.

My wife and I have stayed in Glattbrug at the IBIS Budget Hotel (Accor Hotel), Flughofstrasse 45. It's right on the tram line directly from the airport, about 50 yards to the platform. In 2019 it was SWF 141 for two of us. Small room, but very nice, quiet. tel:(+41)44/8281050

In addition to the ones mentioned above, there is the new Swiss Chocolate Hotel:

https://byfassbind.com/hotel/swiss-chocolate-by-fassbind-2/

This is just across the bridge from the train station. New and modern; reviews mention the rooms are small but that is fairly typical of city hotels throughout Europe. Their prices have gone up[ since I first noticed them, but still not too bad.

The easiest way to search, as mentioned above, is to use booking.com. Use a hotel that you know is close to the station, such as Hotel St. Gotthard, and then click on the “excellent location—-show map” blue link. The map will populate with lots of other hotels in the area, displayed by price. The least expensive is Pop-Up Hotel Krone at $195, but that is for a double room with shared bath. Everything else appears to be $300 and up at the end of May (I checked May 30). The Townhouse Boutique Hotel at $324 and Swiss Chocolate at $336 appear to be the next best, but those are booking.com prices. And that they are often the “non-refundable” price for a room without breakfast—-that is the case with the Townhouse Boutique Hotel—-the refundable rate is $360. The Swiss Chocolate price I saw is the refundable rate, but breakfast is extra.

If you want to go further from the train station, Motel One Zurich comes in at $275.

Once you identify a good candidate, go to the hotel’s own website to book—-they may offer a direct booking discount or other benefits.

I'm sure the Man in Seat 61 has suggestions as well in his description of the station
