We are looking for a hotel close to the train station in downtown zurich, where we will do Xmas markets and train to einsiedeln.

There are a LOT of hotels within a 10 minute walk of Zürich HB. I would
A - pull up a map of Zürich on Googlemaps and click the “hotels” button at the top and get the lay of the land so to speak
B - go to Booking.com and enter my criteria including expense range and start reading reviews amd comparing choice to the mapped properties
It is very difficult to recommend a hotel when we don’t know any of your criteria other than geography but for my part, We’ve enjoyed Hotel Adler twice: old town area, less than 10 minute walk from HB, also quick tram ride. We are trying two others this fall for comparison.

I stayed at the Hotel Bristol last fall, which was within easy walking distance to the station.
