Can anyone suggest a few nice, moderately priced hotel for the above nights.?
We arrive the morning of 11/29 by air and plan to visit the Christmas Markets there before taking a train to Basel.
We had hoped to spend either of the above nights in Lucerne or Bern, but the Christmas Markets this year there do not start until December.

We stayed in the Zurich Marriott right along the river, with fantastic views. I know most folks don't want chain hotels, but many of us have points to apply, and a few free nights are welcome in Switzerland. From the main Zurich train station, it's a 10-15 minute walk along the river.
I do encourage you to book asap, whatever you chose, as in my experience, many smaller hotels were booked by June for the Xmas markets.
