Zurich day trip to Mt Rigi

Thank you to your forums. This has been so helpful.

My plan for a day trip to Mt Rigi from Zurich is
Zurich to Arth-Goldau by train, then transfer to blue cog train up to Mt Rigi.
From My Rigi take the red cog train down to Vitznau and then a boat to Lucerne.
Lucerne back to Zurich by train.

My 2 questions are.
1. How far is it ( with my elderly mum) the walk from the Mt Rigi train station to the top? Age 75
2. As I don’t have a Swiss card , Do I have to buy seperate tickets for the cog train and boat or can I buy a day pass ( like what is offered at the boat, if I was doing it the other way)

Many thanks

There is already a great view from where the train stops at Mt Rigi and where you get off there is a cafe outdoor indoor seating. Make the decision to ascend higher from there when you get there.

Yes, I saw that website. Doesn’t show if it includes the train from Zurich to Arth-Goldau to get the cog train and train from Lucerne back to Zurich, which I’m trying to work out.
So many websites 🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️

To save money you can buy a Saver Day Pass for each passenger for the journey. Sales for your date open on 12 or 13 July (60 days ahead). Price as low as Fr. 52 if you book ahead. Everything will be included, boats, cog trains, regular trains, even Zürich public transit.
However they are not refundable in case of bad weather.

I’ve just been looking at the saver day pass. What a bargain!
I guess if the weather is too bad to get to Mt Rigi, for that price, I can make alternative changes.
