Zurich City (& beyond) restaurant recos?

Hi all, I’ll be in Zurich for a quick, last-minute business trip, staying in Zurich City. (I hope that’s specific enough; we’re near the Titanic exhibit if that helps at all. I haven’t been to Zurich before and don’t know the neighborhoods enough to know what helpful landmarks are.)

Can anyone suggest good restaurants in this area or nearby ones that won’t require reservations far in advance? Bonus points if the restaurants have multiple vegetarian options for my colleague.

We should also have some free time on one of the days to explore the city a bit, so I’ll be looking in the forum for ideas about what to see. Thank you!!

Looks like you are in a business/industrial area northwest of Zurich Main station. There are a couple of big business type hotels in the area. You can take the No 4 tram from either Technopark or Schiffbau to Zurich Main station and change to the No 13 or No 17 tram to the center city area.

I don't know about any restaurants in Zurich. Things to do: boat ride on the Zurichersee, S10 train to Uetliberg for mountain top park and city overlook, Swiss National Museum by the Main station.

Rick's standard recommendation is to find a department store like Coop or Manor and eat in their cafeteria/restaurant where you can select whatever you would like.

It doesn't sound like you're got his guidebook yet ...

Hiltl is good; among vegetarian restaurants I like Tibits too.

If you want a high end picnic, the food hall in the basement of the central Globus department store is amazing. Regular grocery stores where you don't have to sell a kidney are also available - the Migros near the station (the above ground one) has a cafe.
