It looks like the Swiss Travel Pass covers this. Anyone know if it's worth it, where the landing is, and how long the float is?
Got to get every last penny out of this 25% off Pass.
Thx to all!
My sister and I did this once and it was OK but nothing special.
The best boat trips are from Luzern (on the Vierwaldstaettersee) or on one of the two lakes near Interlaken—-Brienzersee or Thunersee. Or on Lac Leman if you are going to Montreux/Geneva area.
You can download the time table at https://www.zsg.ch/en/
There are a variety of round trips. The Short Lake round trips take about 1 1/2 hours and have restaurant onboard.
Boats go from Buerkliplatz. Take the #11 tram from Zurich Hbf. That's free with the STP as well.
Here is all info in English: https://www.zsg.ch/en/ - you can check out the different trips by length (shortest is an hour, longest is 3+) and choose what suits you.
They leave from central Zurich at Bürkliplatz (15-20 min walk from the main station or a short tram ride). They are not as scenic as Lucerne or Berner Oberland, but it is still pleasant and a nice break from walking :) If the weather is good, you can see some nice scenery of the surrounding hills and mountains and get a different perspective on Zurich.
I second Lola's recommendation.
I third Lola's rec. Lucerne offers the best boat ride.
You all are amazing - the practical info you have. Thx so much!
You might check the fine print on the boat trips that are covered by the STP. Seems like the boat trip was covered when we went from one point to another on Lake Brienz and Lake Geneva, but only a portion was covered when we took a sightseeing round trip cruise on Lake Lucerne.
