Friends advised us not to buy train tickets or the Swiss travel pass in advance, but to go to the Travel Centre at the Zurich airport and give them our itinerary and allow them to tell us the best and most economical way to get around. (Our trains will be Zurich-Kandersteg, Interlaken-Murren, Murren-Zurich.) Any thoughts? Thanks in advance!
How are you getting from Kandersteg to Interlaken?
Nigel - our tour group is taking us to Interlaken. Thanks.
I wouldn't have thought with two longish journeys and one short one a Pass would offer good value
Are you going to use public transport during your stay in Murren?
Is your tour group going to use trains and buses?
The main question is: Are you planning any expensive mountain excursions, like the Jungfraujoch or the Schilthorn.
Because in that case getting the Swiss Half Fare Card is often a good option. Gives you 50% of all public transport ,but also of most mountain railways and cable cars.
