Zurich airport questions

Hello

We are flying from the US to Budapest with a plane change in Zurich.

All ticketed via Swiss Air.
1 hour 40 minute layover.
All carry-on luggage.

Trying to suss out what our transfer will look like.
Customs?
Security?

Anyone have any recent experience?

Thanks

We flew to Athens with a transit through Zurich in March. Our flight arrived very early in the morning; we were among only a few passengers waiting for flights. Because of this our transfer was very easy, although a little spooky because no-one was around. Our layover was ~2 hours and we were the only ones at the gate until about 30" before the flight to Athens. Security was easy, as there were only a few of us who needed to have our documents checked. While our experience might not be typical, I think the Swiss reputation for efficiency and attention to detail would give security to travelers. One note of warning--the airport is a lot bigger than one would assume from diagrams. Concourses and gates are well-marked, but distances are long, especially after a long-haul flight.

I am relying on the Swiss reputation for efficiency!

Fingers crossed - we arrive mid-morning, so hopefully still quiet-ish.

I did the same but in May. Arrive 10 something. Had 2 hour layover I think. Ate lunch and still waited at gate.

Third time I have flown through Zurich. Has always been a piece of cake.

Just orient yourself first, as to where your next gate is. Like Susan said, its bigger than it looks., Last time we were there it was a long trek across the terminal.

Zurich is one of my favorite airports, I find it easy to use, clean and highly efficient.

You will arrive in the remote terminal "E" and take an underground train to the main terminal. While riding the train, you will hear taped sounds of cowbells and yodeling. At the main terminal, you will go thru Schengen immigration/passport control. This has always been very quick in my experience. Then you walk to your departure gate.
