We just found the BA check- in process and getting out to the the E Gates takes a bit of time, so plan accordingly . It took us an hour to get from check- in to the E Gate lounge.
At check- in, only the Business Class (BC) line was open, and opened about three hours before our flight to Heathrow. There was only one person working the BA desk. We are BC, but I could see the frustration of the others who weren't . For some reason, the agent couldn't find our ticket number. This is a 10+digit number, not the alphabet confirmation code. I suspect the fact the we finally flew in on another carrier ( after BA cancelation) may have caused the problem.
We then had to get in another line, see a Supervisor, who quickly fixed the problem. We were then returned to the back of the BC check in line.
By the time we returned to the check- in line , a second agent was working the desk, whose time was consumed by a passenger with a Covid test issue, and he must have taken 20 minutes of the Agent's time. None of those in the non-BC line had been checked in.
To get out to the E Gates involves a walk and a train; passport control was very quick .
Not sure if this is typical. But I think it's safe to assume that there are lots of options for folks to have problems currently, so plan for it.
The Verify process was a pain to set up, but did work and save time. Our COVID Abbott test results did load easy into Verify.
In the BC lounge at the E Gates, no one was concerned about eating indoors , although there is actually outdoor seating.
Overall the airport was not crowded, mid- morning.
Hope this helps someone else!
Safe travels!
