Zermatt to Zurich - scenic route

I did similar in January 2024 like this, Zermatt to Brig, then the Loetschberger (via the old Loetschberg Tunnel) to Spiez, then train to Interlaken Ost, then the hourly train to Luzern over the Bruenig Pass. I stayed over 2 nights in Luzern but could have just as easily taken the next train to Zurich (at least 2 every hour), Very scenic from Zermatt to Luzern, but almost a 1 hour wait time in Brig for the next Loetschberger, most of which I spent in the very pleasant coffee shop at Brig station.
