Zermatt to Montreux, is it worth backtracking to Interlaken to catch the Golden Pass Scenic

Hi, we will be traveling from Zermatt in June and headed to Montreux. We could take 2.5 hour regular trains but would it be worth the 2.5 hour travel time back to Interlaken to catch the Golden pass scenic train ? Thanks. Roger.

I would not either, the train ride in the Valais is indeed quite scenic as it is - though admittedly not as much as the Golden Pass.

If you really want to go via the Golden Pass, you actually don't need to travel back to Interlaken. Spiez is where you want to transfer to the Golden Pass trains, for a total travel time of 4:50 instead of 2:45 for the shortest route through the Valais.
