Day 4 - There's no need to relocate to Interlaken if you want to see Thun or visit Bern. They can all be done as a day-trip from Grindlewald.

Day 5 & 6 - I recommend Montreux or Vevey over Zermatt because there is more to do in that area than in Zermatt, especially on cloudy days.

Day 9 & 10 - Zurich is a pleasant city, but visitors to Switzerland typically find more of what they are looking for elsewhere. Unless there you have a specific agenda in Zurich I would skip it. If you are flying out of Zurich, you can spend your last night in Luzern and reach the airport easily from Luzern by rail (2xhour, 70 mins).

If you scratch Zurich, you could add a day to your stay in Luzern and Grindlewald.

Hi Eddie,

Was thinking to cut the travel time from grindelwald to interlaken therefore moved to base in interlaken instead on day 4. What do you think ? From grindelwald to lake thun & bern would it be doable for a day ?

d5&6: If I go montreaux & vevey, can I do lausanne/geneva too ? Where should I based at then ?

d9&10 : do you mean I should based in lucerne and just do zurich day trip ? Yes I am flying out from zurich (day11) . Planned to go rhine falls on day 10 .

Montreux, Vevey, and Lausanne are VERY different from Zermatt.
If you want to see dramatic mountains, ride spectacular gondolas, and experience a swanky Swiss resort town then go to Zermatt.
If you want to see Lake Geneva, the Vineyards of Lavaux, Chateau Chillon, the winding steep streets of Lausanne, and the lovely waterfront promenade of Vevey, then go there.
Depends on what kind of place you prefer!

Hi Anita,

I will stay first 4 days in Grindelwald and going to jungfraujoch. Following 2 days to either Zermatt or Montreux/vevey. Hesitate which to go as the traveling time and journey are long.

Should I based at Montreux or Lausanne?

For two days, I would choose Montreux/Vevey over Zermatt. Lake Geneva with the mountains in the background is stunning. I stayed in Vevey and loved it.

You are already visiting a spectacular mountain region in the Lauterbrunnen/Grindlewald area, so visiting Zermatt would be somewhat duplicative. To get a better sense of Switzerland's variety, I agree that you should visit the Lake Geneva area rather than Zermatt. Montreux, Vevey, or Lausanne are all fine places for a base. You can reach anywhere on the Lake quickly by rail.

Thanks! I have made up my mind to go lausanne.

On the day4, Eddie mentioned not necessary to base Interlaken. If I continue stay in Grindelwald, is train to Grindelwald works until late during summer? Just worry a day is too rush for Grindelwald-Bern- Grindelwald.

Grindlewald to Bern is about 3 hours round-trip, so it's a feasible day trip.
