Hi, We are looking at a trip to Switzerland in September/October. How late can we push our visit to Zermatt & the Matterhorn? Is early October too risky weatherwise? We love cold weather, but are concerned about bad weather spoiling our view. We expect to do the usual walking. We are not hikers. Many thanks!

It's really tough to say. Alpine weather is fickle throughout the year. Forecasts cannot be trusted until one or two days in advance. Sometimes, you can have a sunny morning and then a stormy afternoon.
The only way to hedge is to have flexibility in your itinerary, in case of bad weather.
