Hello! Family of 5 with kids in their 20's heading to Zermatt for the first time for a week in January. We are staying in a chalet near the Sunnegga lift. Other than our accommodations I have to book everything else. Would love any and all recommendations, but specifically:
- We need to travel there by train from Zurich or Milan. And we will spend one day leaving touring that city. We are leaning towards Milan because then we'll check out a bit of Italy as well, but is it pretty comparable travel wise by train and how do we book that?
- Favorite things to do if you had one day in either city?
- When we get to Zermatt we need to rent skis and food/booze shop and that will all be delivered to our chalet. Any recommendations on where to shop and could I do that beforehand online.
- Since our chalet is a little remote we are thinking cozy nights in (we like to cook) but yummy lunches on the mountain. Do we need reservations at the popular ones beforehand? Faves?
- Favorite Apres locations on the mountain as well as favorite runs? We are all competent skiers.
- Do we need to buy lift passes ahead of time or can we buy there?
Thank you so much for all of your recs in advance!!
Katherine
