I am trying to calculate my ticket costs using the SBB App. I am successful finding the costs for all of my tickets EXCEPT for the ticket to Blauherd. I choose Zermatt (Talstation Sunnegga) to Blauherd (stop at Sunnegga and transfer to Blauherd). When I click "show offers" it says "connection offer failed". I verified that I have my correct date/time (mid Sept at 13:45). What am I doing wrong? I even changed my destination to Sunnegga and have this same issue. Note that I am successful getting a ticket cost from Zermatt, Bahnhof to Gornergrat.
You can see tickets on the Matterhorn Paradise website who runs the funicular & cable car.
It’s 59chf roundtrip full fare (29.50 for Half Fare Card/SwissPass)
35chf one way (17.50 for HFC)
The Gornergratbahn is a division of Matterhorn-Gotthard Bahn, a railway. Suneggabahn and Blauherd are ski lifts operated by Matterhorn Bergbahnen Ag, a ski lift company. Pricing info at https://www.matterhornparadise.ch/en/book/tickets/blauherd
This is because the Zermatt Blauherd stop is not integrated in the national tariff system, so SBB cannot sell you tickets to it. Most mountain railways and cable cars are integrated, but as you found out there are exceptions.
Thank you for the clarification! It looks like I can buy the Gornergrat ticket from either SBB or from the Matterhorn app, is this correct (again, I am just researching now, so have not purchased my STP nor actually executing on the purchase of the tickets).
