I don't know if you can see the Matterhorn at night, unless there is a full moon maybe.
Daylight hours, on the walkway along the east of the river. Or a walk up Riedstrasse near the Gornergratbahn overpass. Or ride the Gornergratbahn to the top for a great view. From Trockner Steg, you're real close, but not the classic view from the village, more of a straight triangle.

Only been there in the winter, but the skiing is wonderful and the Apres Ski is more like Austria (lively).

Hi Sam! My bad i guess the pictures I’ve seen of the Matterhorn at night might be like you said during full moon or edited. I appreciate your feedback and recommendations!

I have a series of 3 photos my wife took hanging in our living room, taken from our room balcony in the early morning. First with sunlight just hitting the top, second with sunlight halfway down, third with the entire east face lit.

The town itself is brightly lit in the evening, so it suffers from light pollution. Any night photos you would have seen would have been taken from mountaineering huts up on the surrounding mountains I would suspect.

Here is some great information by photographer Tom Archer on shooting the Matterhorn at night. He provides wonderful photos and the locations in which he took them.

During the blue hour, just before sunrise and just after sunset, the mountains will look like this, especially those covered in snow. They have a beautiful glow at that time of day.
