Zermatt to Venice September

Looking for information of a 22 September routing from Zermatt to Venezia San Lucia. The quickest route and early morning route is best. would like to arrive around noon or soon after noon. Best routing with no discount passes is what we are searching.
I did find a note saying the transfer is in Brig. Is the 7 minute connection correct and reasonable? not sure that is correct
Any suggestions are appreciated.

Look at www.sbb.ch and you'll see the options. 7 minutes is Brig is probably more than enough, it's not a giant station and Swiss trains tend to be punctual.

Why not fly? EasyJet has a direct 1 hr 15 minute flight.

My husband and I will be travelling from Zermatt to Verona in September. We will take the train from Zermatt to Brig on SBB. 7 min should be enough time as Swiss trains are punctual. We leave Zermatt about noon. Once in Brig we have booked a Trenitalia train to Milan where we switch trains to Verona (it goes to Venice after Verona). The Trenitalia trains (Brig to Milan and Milan to Verona) are high speed.

Our total travel will be noon from Zermatt and arrive in Verona at 18:30. To travel to Venice another hour would be required but no more changing of trains. It should be possible to arrive in Venice earlier in mid-afternoon by leaving Zermatt in the AM.

In Brig another option is to take a SBB train to Milan. We chose Trenitalia due to price and convenience in Milan.

I suggest using the Trainline app or website if you are new to traveling in Europe. It will show you the options available. It is important to note we chose to make 2 tickets for our journey that day. One is SBB Zermatt to Brig and one is Brig to Verona. Due to the complexity of the days journey you will likely need to do the same thing.

Good luck!

Additionally, Seat61.com is an amazing website for learning about the trains in European countries.

Since when is there an airport in Zermatt?

Danger Will Robinson...

When evaluating the 7 minute change at Brig, note that the SBB trains are in the station which is a bit back from the street. The little red narrow gauge trains from Zermatt stop in the middle of the street outside the station a little way down the street.

I've been in and around Brig and both stations several times and I might think 7 minutes a tad tight for me, maybe if the station is new to you and do you have luggage?

7 minutes is an absolute age at most Swiss stations but not so much at Brig coming off the MGB / RhB.

Actually there is only one kind of direct train from Brig to Milan, it is an EC service, and it is jointly operated by SBB and Trenitalia. You can book on SBB, or on Trenitalia, but in each case it will be the same train...

I would just book Zermatt - Venice on www.sbb.ch. Booking all in one go will result in a slightly cheaper ticket for Zermatt - Brig. For the Brig - Milano and Milano - Venice (or if you choose the direct Brig - Venice train) the tickets will be identical to those you would get if you booked on Trenitalia.

And if you are worried about the connection in Brig just take a train form Zermatt half an hour earlier. The Zermatt - Brig ticket is flexible.
