I would appreciate your input on lodging in Spiez for two nights in early June, 2027.
I have identified my preferred hotel but do not get a response to my direct inquiries. Also, booking.com does not show availability from the nights I need.
Is it possible that it is too early to book a room for next year?
hard to say. Need name of place and actual dates to test options.
Personally, I think you are way too early. I have noticed that if they are not booking room, the emails are often ignored. Some of these hotels have small staff and just don't have the ability to respond to every email.
By no response to direct inquiries, does that mean they did not answer the phone?
Just a word about Spiez - very convenient location for day trips, but the town itself is on quite a hill, so depending on the location of the hotel, it might be a bit of a hike up to the train station, just so you are aware of that.
There are busses, but they are not that frequent. The train station-boat dock bus runs once an hour, for comparison all city busses in Thun run every 10 minutes. You can check out the exact schedule in SBB; enter your hotel name or address to see what bus will take you there.

I have been focusing on Pizzeria-Hotel Lötschberg, a "flat" (14m difference in elevation) 5-minute walk from the Spiez train station.
My "direct contact" with them was via email.
Are there better alternatives in Thun, for example?
Sometimes European hotels respond better using What's App. This is just my personal experience. Good luck!

Yes, this is right near the train station, no hills involved. Could be a bit noisy, take a look at the street view on Google maps and you will see it is right where several roads meet at a fairly busy intersection, but as a place to do day trips from it will be very convenient.
I have not stayed at any hotels in Thun, so can't speak from experience, but one that I would choose based solely on the location is the Hotel Aare Thun. It sits right between two branches of the Aare river, no traffic noise, maybe people sounds and of course the sound of the river. Years ago this building was actually a department store (Manor) and their restaurant had a large balcony with great river views. It was a favourite place for our family to grab lunch.
You would have to compare the cost and reviews, etc. It is near the train station as well as anything you might want to do in Thun (castle, old town, etc.).
