Will we find Mosquitoes in the alps?

Isn't the issue actually 'Will they find you?"

I suspect it depends where you are in relation to the timberline.

I don't recall any problems with mosquitoes or other insects during our visit to the Berner Oberland in late June two years ago, and my wife is very susceptible to mosquito bites.

I've been there a dozen times, camped, hiked all over. Never been bitten by anything.

We travelled in June/July or 10 days on two trips and found no mosquitos but some flies around the cows on the hiking trails. Not bad. Just keep walking. Grab a sandwich from the grocery store before leaving town.
