Which train pass for August itinerary: Zurich to Lucerne to Interlaken to Basel

We will arrive in Zurich, travel to Lucerne 2 nights, then to Interlaken 3 nights with side trips to Murren, etc, then to Basel. Recommendations as to which train pass would be best? My husband and I are older if that makes a difference.

Also, would appreciate hotel recommendations for Lucerne (prefer on the water in $500 range) and Interlaken (area closest to transportation for side trips up the mountains- also $500 range). In Lucerne, I'm considering Hotel des Balances (although a bit more expensive) and Hotel des Alpes... thoughts on these and others?

Would love to hear any suggestions pertaining to side trips up to Murren and top of Schilthorn. Thank you!!

I'd say a 6-day 2nd class Swiss Travel Pass. You will have to pay for the roundtrip from Muerren to Schilthorn, but you do get a 50% discount with your STP. Once you get to Basel, you get free local transportation included with a hotel stay in Basel.

The Hotel des Alpes is a popular choice. Use your STP to go to Rigi Kulm (mountain top) as it is included with the pass along with boat ride on the lake to Vitznau for the Rigibahn to the top right from the boat dock.

The Hotel du Lac is on the river right next to the boat dock and train station in Interlaken.
