Which rail pass or combo to get?

We will be spending about 7 days in September or October. Planning to take the train from ZRH to Zermatt, from Zermatt to Wengen, and Wengen back to ZRH most likely. We will also do several gondolas, cable cars such as Mannlichen and Grindelwald and trains like the Gornergrat. If extra time permits we may add a quick day trip to Lichstenstein.

Can someone help recommend what pass or passes are the best for our itinerary?

Thank you.

Really depends on precisely how many nights you will spend in Wengen. And a trip to Nowheresville, Liechtenstein will just take away from time you could be spending in Wengen.

Looking at likely three nights Zermatt and three nights Wengen. We would probably not spend the night in Lich if we even do it, it's more of a country checklist item.

I would say get Half Fare Cards (120 CHF pp). As soon as you decide on your arrival day, purchase Saver Day Passes for the trip from ZRH to Zermatt. Right now, these cost about 49 CHF with the HFC. The price goes up the longer you wait. The HFC will get you 50% discount on all other train tickets including the Gornergratbahn and lifts in Wengen.

If you insist on wasting time going to Liechtenstein, buy Saver Day Passes for that day as well. It is about 1 1/4 from Zurich HB with a bus connection at Sargans (no real rail stations in Liechtenstein). Take the selfie, then you can head back. The best part will be the train ride along the Walensee. Sit on the left side on the way, and the right side on the way back.
