Which mountain resort to choose for Dec - not too far from Geneva by train?

My kids (aged 9 & 12) and I are planning to stay in Geneva from 12 Dec for about 7 nights. In between the 7 nights, I would like my kids to experience lots of snow and do some basic skiing classes. They have not ski before as we are from Malaysia.
I have found a nice apartment at Barboleuse at Villars-sur-Ollon area from the internet.
Can you advice if I should choose this mountain resort? I don’t want to travel too far from Geneva.
We will be using the train and public transport to get around so its great if we can find a idyllic mountain resort that's close to everything, with lots of snow. It will be good if there is also bus shuttles to get around.
My objective is to let my kids experience a bit of skiing, take the chair lifts to different scenic peaks, sledge runs and to do some fun activities. We plan to stay 2 nights in a mountain resort, if need be, 3 nights.

Hello Elaine. I have not been to Villars but it looks like a nice resort for families,,with ski schools and other winter activities like ice skating and sledding:

My concern is whether at 1300 meters it is high enough to have good snow in mid-December. You might try posting your question on the Switzerland board in the Tripadvisor forums where it will be seen by more people familiar with winter in the Swiss Alps.
