Which Date Would You Pick

(this is a cross post from other forums)
I had plans to go To Switzerland 2020 - all hotels and air booked etc. - which was canceled due to Covid.

I had picked the dates August 20 th to Sept 5th due to a convention I had to go to for work.

I am now determining my dates for 2024. Same work convention is Sept 9th to 11th ...so leaving a few days before or after...here are my choices:

August 20 to Sept 5th or

Sept 17th to October 4.

The earliest AFTER the convention would be Sept. 14th to oct 1st. (seems this might be the best if we can handle being gone for work convention - come back and leave a few days after)

I hear Sept is a GREAT time to go, but I don't know if this is too late into Sept and a few days into October.

The plan back in 2020 to show you about where we would be during our trip dates was:

Appenzall - 1 Night - o hike to Hike to Berggasthaus Aescher

Weggis - 3 nights

Wengen - 6 nights

Zermatt - 3 nights

Fussen 1 night

At the time we were flying into Munich as the flights with miles were a lot less expensive. I think now we can fly into Zurich for the same amount of miles saving some driving so may not go to Fussen to visit the Neuschwantstein castle.

We always try to travel to Europe in September and October. You should have beautiful weather then and the itinerary contains many of Europe’s most beautiful places.
Probably our most disappointing side trip, wish we hadn’t even bothered, was Neuschwanstein Castle. We went out of our way to visit and felt it was a waste of our valuable time.

thanks for the extra note on the Neuschwatstein Castle. I am sure it means something more to us as we are big disney fans. BUT if we can fly to Zurich for same amt of miles, I am thinking we will skip it.

So end of sept still sounds good to you !!

The later the better. It’s been hot hot hot even in the mountains this year early in September. Finally got nicer this week.

We have been in Switzerland twice in Sept., and it's a great time to visit. Do bring some summer clothes as the cities can be in the 80's. We had all mountain layers and were caught off guard.
N'stein Castle is a huge tourist trap, and much like Disney, involves lots of lines for a 20+minute, uninspiring Castle tour, much of which is being renovated. iMHO, not worth the effort.
Curious why you're staying in Weggis and not Lucerne? Glad you have so many nights in the BO. No one is ready to leave.
Have a great trip in this beautiful country! Safe travels.

Thanks everyone.

@Pat - I have to remind myself of why i picked Weggis vs Lucerne!!! Rsearch so much in 2020, but now have forgotten.

I am going to guess that we are outdoorsy and prefer small er locations then big cities. Must have thougth that we would do a day trip to Lucerne but do our other trips from Weggis.

I hate stasrting research all over again LOL

I agree with the later the better.

We visited Neuschwanstein Castle and thoroughly enjoyed it. Didn’t think it was a tourist trap.
