Hi all, we are in the early stages of booking a 3 week trip to Europe in September. I am reading thru many posts here to help with the processs. We start with a 4 night stay in Bellano on Lake Como and plan to make our way to Murren via the Bernina Express. The plan is to take the afternoon departure from Tirano to Chur after a 90 minute train from Bellano to Tirano. This puts us in Chur at 630pm. It seems we still have a ways to go in order to get to Murren so I am thinking we should insert a 1-2 night stopover along the way to ease the stress but where would make the most sense? Stay in Chur, continue to Zurich or Bern? Zurich was not really on our radar for a visit would probably prefer Bern or Lucerne. I typically go with the RS 2 night minimum but in this case if nothing makes sense will do a one night and proceed to Murren. Thanks in advance!
It is at least 4 hours to Murren (which cannot be reached by train) from Chur, Bern is 2 hours 20 minutes, Luzern is 2 hours and Zurich is an hour and a quarter. I actually like Zurich and there are lots of things to do, but if it does not interest you, my suggestion would be to get a nice relaxed dinner and spend the night in Chur and start fresh the next morning on the next adventure.

Try Kanderstag with a cable car to a beautiful lake.
Might as well relax for the evening in Chur. It is 4 1/4 hours to Muerren from there.
