Where to stay (Lodging) for 1 month?

I have been to Switzerland a lot over the years. Typically that means 'on the road' versus a stay in a single location (or at least a single base) for 30 days. Buuuut that is what I am looking for this time.

Looking for somewhere where I could get a better price for a month rather than just a (nightly rate) X (30 days).

Any ideas? Would lean toward small towns vs big cities and mountains vs the flatter, northern area. I have been to a lot of nooks and crannies so I fear no where :)

Thanks!

Edit: Sorry guys, I mean more specific suggestions. I am looking for a place (literally lodging) that would do something like this. Thanks! :)

We rent a chalet for 6 weeks every summer in Murren. We've also done a longer rental in Bettmeralp, These are both car free villages so they aren't necessarily hot spot hubs for tons of connections for day trips, but lovely with tons of options for hiking and exploring. From Bettmeralp we day tripped to Zermatt and surrounding areas and of course from Murren there are endless options.

The town of Kandersteg at the base of the cable car up to Oeschinensee was an underrated gem of a town if you want something not car free.

An awful lot depends on what you want to do during the thirty days... From a public transport point of view Olten would be a good choice as it is a major switching point in the Swiss and international railway system. It's a nice Swiss town and not at all touristy , so prices are more realistic. That or one of the surrounding towns would be my suggestion.

I have lived in a small town about 15 minutes from Olten for over thirty years and one of the major reasons for living here is the easy access to public transport Olten offers. If the weather is nice and I have the time, I can be in the French or Italian speaking parts of Switzerland by lunch time or any part of the Berner Oberland by mid morning. I often pop up to Zermatt for lunch!

You really didn't say how much traveling you would be doing from one location. I would suggest somewhere real close to Bern if you are doing a lot of day tripping. Otherwise, I like the suggestion of Thun. Nice area, good link transit with Bern if you want to do a little traveling and a beautiful lake area to enjoy for a month.

If day trips are really not in the plans at all, I would choose Wengen in the BO because of its compact town and resources of grocery, restaurants and great access to hiking, not to mention the views. I don't think there are too many bad choices in Switzerland.
