We are a family of 3 travelling in Austria.
We have 2 full days in each city. We'd like to get around by walking, as much as possible.
We will be renting an Airbnb.
In Salzburg, would you recommend staying in the Old Town area or New Town area?
In Vienna, any recommendations of area to stay in to have best access to highlights to see?

Wrong forum. It also sounds like you haven't yet bought a guidebook, or searched this website for Rick's advice since these are such basic questions. That is job 1.
Many folks here on the Forum are reporting that moderately-priced lodgings are already full for summer, so it's probably a good idea to complete your research, decide , and book quickly.
