What is most important in good location, clean, with charm and quaint
Any recommendations for Hotel Des Alpes? - sounds good but open to suggestions

Hi pecanlady, we stayed at the Hotel Des Alpes in 2016 as part of a Rick Steves tour of Switzerland. The hotel was fine, very good location, excellent breakfast buffet.

I've stayed at Hotel Stern a number of times and would certainly recommend it. It's only a short walk from the station and the waterfront, the rooms are clean and the staff are great. I can't remember if they have A/C but I can usually manage with a fan in northern countries.

I had a very nice stay at the Hotel des Alpes in September 2014, and would certainly stay there again. Note that their online booking engine didn't have the room I needed, but by e-mailing them directly, I got the room with no problem.

We stayed in hotel Monopol. Perfect location, very close to train station, waterfront and short walk to the old town.
