it might be difficult with an infant on an electric bike. I would give the non-related link a miss until the Webmaster has ruled on it.

Have you got a good guidebook for the region? Our host, Rick Steves does a good one. Coming from Abu Dhabi you may need to rely on Amazon and/or download the virtual version. All the Lauterbrunnen villages are discussed.

Will the baby be ok with altitude? If so, and if you want to explore in the mountains, I very much like Mürren.

I do worry about how early you are in early April. The ski season will have shut down and the land will be muddy and snowy. The paths will have ice on them in parts, I'd worry about falling with baby. Early April really is the off-season of off-seasons.

We thought Grindelwald was the perfect location for places to visit you mention. We thought Lauterbrunnen was rather dark, down in a valley.

Early April there will be quite a bit of snow. Have you factored for that?

Since hotels in areas like Murren might be on different schedules ( compared to summer months), recommend staying in Interlaken ( less snow related closing etc) from where all the places you mention are easily accessible.

Ram,

Lauterbrunnen would be a good choice as it's the transportation hub for the area, and easy to get from there to explore both sides of the valley. I prefer to stay there and don't find it "dark" at all. I'm usually out touring in the day, so it's not a problem.

There are some good hotels there, but it would be prudent to check with them on whether they'll be open at the beginning of April.

Hotel Oberland in Lauterbrunnen does not open until April 7. That may be an indication that early April is not the best time for this town.

I would suggest Interlaken. (Bernerhof hotel...wonderful staff, good location) You are very close to lakes and mountain trains and have two train stations if you are interested in some day trips. I don't think that the cable cars around Jungfrau open until the end of May. Also as someone else mentioned the trails are awful in April.

Hello Ram,

The ski season in the Jungfrau region runs from Nov. 26th - April 16th.

Early April is not off-season, in fact it can be quite busy, depending on the weather.

I went up the Schilthorn on April 13th this year and it was wonderful! Lots of people were skiing and the cable car was very full, but not many people were on the viewing platforms and I had the Thrill Walk all to myself for a while - which was fun. Although all of the mountains were covered in snow, the streets in Mürren were clear and there was no snow at lower elevations.

Boats on the Lake of Brienz do not run in the winter, in 2022 they started again on April 9th. I have not seen a schedule yet for 2023. Boats on the neighbouring Lake of Thun run year round.

You could easily stay in Lauterbrunnen, Wengen, Mürren or Grindelwald to enjoy this beautiful area, or access it all from Interlaken, as suggested above.

Would agree with central and well-connected Interlaken. Better amenities and accommodation choices too than the smaller places!! We were there in mid-May a few years ago.
