Traveling this September. I'm flying in from Chicago on Swiss Air. Friend coming in to Zurich from Boston also on SwissAir.. Our flights land about the same time, @6AM. Would it be best to plan to meet at baggage claim? or is there a spot in the airport that we all filter through where we might be able to find each other? Immigration/passport control?
I think at baggage claim makes the most sense if you are both checking bags. Are you staying in Zurich?
@valadelphia Not staying in Zurich, we will go to the train station at the airport to buy tickets for a train to the start of a self guided hiking trip. We are both checking bags, since we are bringing hiking poles. I'd thought baggage claim would be best, but maybe someplace before that. My friend is a bit concerned about traveling by herself, I'm not.
Gotcha--my other suggestion was going to be downstairs at the train station if you were heading off, but given your friend's hesitance, baggage claim is probably best. I just think that would be easier, and it rules out having to compare what gate (and they can change) differing lines, etc. (When i am sleep-deprived, it all starts to look alike). I have only flown in there once, but it was very efficient, and I was at baggage claim within minutes. Lots of people are already standing around already at baggage claim, whereas near the immigration lines you want to get out of the way.
Both Swiss Air flights do probably arrive in the same area, so you may just run into other by happy accident anyway!
You will go through immigration/passport control before you get to baggage claim. At baggage claim, just look for what carousel your friends bags are coming off.
