where to go between Murren and Zurich

We are starting our trip with 5 nights in Murren right after Christmas. If we have 2 or 3 days after Murren before flying out of Zurich I would like suggestions on where to go or stay. I was thinking of taking the Golden Pass from Interlaken to Lucerne and stay in Lucerne for 2 or 3 nights. Any other suggestions?

We could also book a flght out of Geneva instead of Zurich allowing us to take the Golden Pass from Interlaken to Montreax. Comments.

I would also appreciate any comments on what to do in Murren in the winter.

Hmm. I take it you don't ski or snowboard. There are some great sledding runs in Muerren.
Going to Luzern is a pretty good idea.

Hi Jayne,

We spent 4 nights in Wengen followed by 2 nights in Lucerne, so Lucerne is my suggestion. This was in mid October, so I can't comment on winter.

You may want to view Rick's European Christmas program, which shows Gimmelwald in snow. Even if you don't partake in many sports, the view from any balcony in Muerren will be fabulous and the lift to the top of Mt. Schithorn very worthwhile in clear weather. You could also rent snowshoes to take on a marked "snowshoe trail" near Muerren; enquire at your hotel or the tourist office.

Thank you for all of the input. We are meeting our daughter and her husband, who are living in England, for an after Christmas visit/holiday in Switzerland. Some of the group does ski and some do not was the reason for my question for fun things to do in Murren. I think snow shoeing and sledding sound like good options.
