We are traveling from Zurich to Zermatt in mid October with our 2 teenage daughters and have 4 days in between where should we stop?

We haven't decided yet. What would you suggest? We were thinking about Lucerne but have 4days

I'd recommend train, because it will sit in a pay parking lot the whole time you are there. Go to Luzern straight from the airport (I assume you are arriving there). I don't think you'd get bored. Rigi, Mt Pilatus, Lake Luzern (not its real name).

What is the plan once you get to Zermatt?

If you have not already considered it, you could spend say two days in Luzern and then go to Davos and from there take the Glacier Express to Zermatt.

How long is the Glacier express to Zermatt. I am worried my teenagers might get antsy.
We were possibly thinking of spending2 days in Lucerne and then going to Murren and going up to Schilthorn.
Would your recommend that?

I just came back from switz. Yes murren is beautiful, a small mountain town on the hill. Great hiking here. As far as going up to schil? Spelling. The weather changes all the time. I would only go when it was clear and sunny. I did go up to jungfau. You can decide that morning to go if weather is good. Your teens may like walking on the snow to this hut about 45 min walk once you get to top of jung. This was a very popular thing to do and the path is flat maybe a little uphill. But the views are great.
If you get the half card the fee for jung is half, they also have zip lines on top of jung, that teens would like. But like i said , only go if it is clear. And if it is clear and sunny , then take the first train up, because everyone waits till it is sunny then goes and it will be crowded.

Have you teens google zip line jungfrau. I just did this and this will give your teens an idea of what they can do on top of jung. (They will not be antsy) it is an adrenaline rush. There is also tubing, i do not know if this is weather dependent. But when i was there last week, it was sunny, clear, and everything was opened. Also there is an ice cave, where you walk on ice through a tunnel. Don't wear slippery shoes! Also if it is sunny there are lounge chairs where you can rest. You can spend all day up there.
