We leave tomorrow and I want to buy the Swiss half fare and 10 day BOpass. Not sure where to buy from. I want both a paper ticket and mobile one. How to best do this? I don't see on the SBB app where I can buy either one.
Please Help!
A few years ago we bought one at our first Switzerland city in Basel. They had an office there at the train station and were extremely helpful. We were undecided as to which pass to get but they helped us decide. We did not get the BO pass, just used the half fare pass in that area. My favorite place in the world, have a great trip.
From your other posts it looks like you may be starting your trip in Zurich. If you are flying in the Zurich airport has a staffed ticket office. At least it did a few years ago when I was there.
If you buy your pass in person, you will not get a mobile pass. You will only get the paper versions.
This is kind of late, but if you want to buy them in advance, you can buy the Half Fare card here:
https://www.sbb.ch/en/leisure-holidays/inspiration/international-guests/swiss-halffare-card.html
You will get a link for printing the pass at home, and the digital code if you want to keep it on your phone. That is what I did.
And the Berner Oberland pass here:
To add to Lola’s excellent advice, make sure you have an SBB account set up and have the app on your phone signed into the same account. Buy your HFC on the website while signed in and it will appear in the app.
You will not be able to buy the BO Reg Pass in Zurich so best to buy online before you leave. I had trouble buying one where I had planned to in Brig last year and had to do it on my phone on the fly anyway.
The Berner Oberland Pass does not exist as a mobile pass. If you buy it online you will have to print it out. If you buy it on site you get a paper pass as well. (And you can buy it at the Zurich Airport !)
For the HFC buy it online on SBB, after creating an account, and it will appear in the app. You can also print it out, to keep together with your BO pass for example.
I purchased both the HFC and BOP on their websites. I was able to print as well as save them in my Apple wallet. One less thing to fiddle with when we arrive in Zurich. :)
WengenK, I keep mu BO passes as PDFs on my phone. Works well!
