We start our trip in Switerland Sept 1. Is there any advantage ordering our flexipass now (June 28) over waiting until August?
We will be getting a reservation on the Glacier Express so we were wondering if ordering earlier would give us better seats. There are only 2 of us so we will want the single side of the coach in 1st class.
You can get your reservation now:

The "reservation" is more of a mandatory supplement. They will ask you to pick whether you want one of the lunch options to be prepaid. I don't see where you pick seats before the payment page.
You can probably make that seat reservation online without a pass in hand; at least give it a try. Then you just have to have a pass when you board the train. You can buy it at Swiss train stations or order at least a week ahead for home delivery before you go. From now to then, exchange rates will vary (for passes sold in dollars) or other specials could be announced, both unpredictable.
Is there an extra charge for buying swiss rail tickets on Rick Steves website vs going directly to SBB?
I found no discount for purchasing early. I couldn't even buy my tickets more than a month in advance. We bought them as we needed them. Expensive as all get out but it felt fun to be flexible. I'm usually organized down to the minute.
