Traveling to Swiss Alps/Berner Oberland at the end of July & trying to figure what to pack for a woman.
The weather can vary from hot and sunny to cold, foggy, and rainy within 24 hours. So bring summer clothes, and a wool sweater to put under a raincoat or windbreaker. Long pants, short pants, leggings, hiking socks--all wore during our July trip
Layers with clothes that are good for both warm sun, and cool rain. You can be in a sunny valley at 10AM and on a foggy, freezing cold peak an hour later! Up in the mountains, I usually wear a tank top with a long-sleeved shirt tied around my waist and I a keep a thin fleece-lined, waterproof jacket with a hood packed in my day pack. For the bottom half I wear yoga pants or hiking pants depending on where we are going.
If you're not sure what to wear, there are quite a few outdoor stores in Switzerland that sell very nice walking/hiking clothes for up in the mountains...you can use them while you're there and I think they make a great souvenir that you can use when you come home too!
