I have about 3-4 hours in Thun before we can get into hotel. Do you have any suggestions
Go to PINTEREST….plenty of ideas if you search THUN…….take a boat ride!
Thun is not very large so it is easy to walk through the city to see it all
- Schloss Thun
- Old town area
- two wooden bridges (sometimes with people surfing)
- market stalls on Wednesdays and Saturdays in the Bälliz
- visit the Kunstmuseum, and from there you can walk along the promenade by the Aare river to the Lake of Thun. Also the building that the Kunstmuseum is in (Thunerhof) has a very interesting interior
- For an inexpensive coffee/meal you can eat at the Coop restaurant and get a window seat to see the river
- More tasty treats can be had at Confiserie Steinmann
- Schloss Schadau is a 15 minute walk, or just one bus stop, from the train station

Hi Suzanne,
We just returned from Thun this past Sunday! It's a charming town, and if you only have 3-4 hours, I'd visit the Castle right in the old town, takes about an hour or so, and then walk around the river Aare, watch the surfers and have a nice lunch along one of the many restaurants along the river. The old town is very close to the train station, about a ten minute walk. Or you could take a boat ride, on Lake Thun, it's lovely. You can catch the boat opposite the train station.
But with only 3-4 hours, I think I'd play it safe, and visit the castle, and enjoy the old town.
