My sister and I are headed to Switzerland in a few weeks. Does anyone know what masks are needed for indoor dining, shops, venues, etc? N95? Surgical? Thank you.
Almost everyone uses medical/surgical masks here (Type II is most common). You can buy a box for 5-10 francs in any grocery/drugstore/etc. You don't have to wear N95, although some do. "Community"/fabric masks are acceptable too if they meet the standards, but they are not really that popular here.
Here is the overview from the medical authority: https://www.bag.admin.ch/bag/en/home/krankheiten/ausbrueche-epidemien-pandemien/aktuelle-ausbrueche-epidemien/novel-cov/masken.html
Also, fyi, with the new covid certificate rules starting on Monday, the idea is that masks will no longer be needed for indoor dining, museums, etc. Obviously you can still wear one if you choose, but it won't be mandatory. Masks will still be needed indoors where the certificate is not applied, for example grocery stores, shops, public transport, etc.
Thanks hopper! I will make sure to grab a handful of surgical masks from work and not worry about the N95 ones. I do have both the French and Swiss QR codes in the appropriate apps as well. Thanks for the response.
In Switzerland I saw hospital blue, black and white surgical masks being widely used if color matters to you. Have a nice trip.
