Wengen to Pfingstegg - Best Way?

Hello - I've tried to search and find this but coming up a little empty in terms of optimizing the route/day.

We'll be based in Wengen and want to do Pfingstegg one day as we'll have two kids with us (8 and 6) and the coaster and fly line look fun.

What's the best/fastest way to get there from Wengen? We will not have a car.

Also...any recs on what else to pair with it that same day in terms of efficiency?

Thank you!

Look on SBB.ch or the SBB app

Enter Wengen - Pfingstegg.
You will see all of the options for the day. They are at :12 and :42 each hour.

Route is always the same. Click on it to see the details:

Wengen - Lauterbrunnen - Zweilütchinen - change trains, get on the train to Grindelwald - Grindelwald Bahnhof (this is the final station) - walk 2 min to bus #122 - get off at stop “pfingsteggbahn” - walk 2 minutes - cablecar up.

If there is anything else you are interested in doing in Grindelwald, it makes sense to do it that day, if you have time. You can also choose to return to Wengen over Männlichen. This is slower and more expensive, but also a great option for a family.

The suggestion of what to pair depends on your full itinerary. How long will you be there? What is on your wish list? What are your exact travel dates? These things affect suggestions.

Thanks, all! Yeah - the cable car element is what I was most curious about...how much longer that may be from Wengen over Mannlichen to Grindelwald compared to the train.

In terms of other things we're interested in while in the region:

  • easy hikes (cause of the kids) of 4km max (bonus if kid themed)
  • Schilthorn & Birg Thrill Walk
  • walking Lauterbrunnen Valley, Trummelbach Falls
  • Mannlichen itself - Panorama Trail
  • Lake Brienz cruise, Geese Falls, possibly Harder Kulm or Brienz Rothhorn

There late June of 2026 for 4-5 nights.

Open to other ideas though suitable for the kids (8 and 6) in or around Grindelwald. Easy hikes, nature activities, etc.

Thanks

Also planning to do the marble run trail in Meiringen but, at the moment at least, planned to do that as a day trip during our 4-5 nights in Lucerne.

probably worth seeing what happens to the regional passes like BO Pass and Jungfrau Pass at the end of this year. Big changes between last year and this one, interesting to see what happens at the end of this year.
