Wengen - things to do with family

Would someone be able to recommend activities in and around Wengen. We are staying in an airbnb in Wengen with a family of 6, including 2 grandparents and 2 children ages 8 and 9. Looking for some easy hikes, waterfalls, playgrounds - we are only there for 2 days from Paris arriving by train.

Would you recommend we buy the Swiss half fare cards if we needed a form of transportation to sightsee?

Rick Steves’ guidebook for Switzerland is loaded with ideas in the area, from Wengen to Mürren to Lauterbrunnen and beyond. Also great advice on logistics. Do you have it? Can you get it from the library at the very least? Then you can see so many options and his take on them. Light hikes and walks, trains and lifts, cycling, waterfalls, and more. The playground at the top of the Männlichen lift is awesome!

The HalfFare Card costs 120 chf for each adult. Children travel free with the Family Card.
Only IF you are taking trips with total normal cost of 240 chf would the HalfFareCard be "worth it. At just 2 days, I doubt it.
You can check train trip prices at sbb.ch/en to learn more.

The blog Swiss Family Fun has lots of ideas of what to do in the Jungfrau/Berner Oberland region. Perhaps you should consider a Berner Oberland Pass if you’d like to take the different transportation options (cable cars, funiculars, gondolas, trains, boats…). There is a map on their website with detailed prices to each destination.

The Allmendhubel playground above Mürren is great fun and the Männlichen cow is delightful after seeing all the Swiss cows.
