Wengen in the last week of May

Hi, my husband and I will be in Wengen from 28-31 May 2019.
Someone I met told me that Wengen will be kind of empty and deserted in May. Is this correct? Should we base ourselves in Grindelwald (or some other village close to interlaken) instead? We like quiet places, but if restaurants / shops are not opened, then we wont enjoy it. Can someone please guide me on this?

And this same person tells me that, in May, snow starts melting and Wengen streets will be slushy and wet and walking around will be tough? Is this correct in your experience?

Thanks.

Plenty of shops, restaurants, hotels, etc. will be open in Wengen in late May. I have been there several times in late May. It is an excellent time to go.

Some people around here talk about the alpine villages as if they were more like Disney World than a real living inhabited village. Yes things will be open just like they are every other day of the year. Few tourists?? You should consider that a plus! But with Bollywood videos being made in the Jungfrau region and the wealth of advertising to Asia - you will never be alone in this area as mass tourism is very much alive and well.

Hello again, one more question. I also have the option to stay in Ringgenberg in a very nice hotel. Which, according to you, is prettier town - wengen or ringgenberg?

Thanks

A vote for Wengen. But if you really want the other hotel and can make the transportation work for you, do what you want.

The views from Wengen are pretty good...
