We sent 5 nights in Wengen in late June 2023. We liked Ristorante da Sina.
Keep your plans flexible, due to weather. This is how we spent our days:
1) Took the train to Brienz, explored the town then took the boat to Geissbach, funicular up, had lunch at the hotel terrace. Explored the hotel, then boat to Interlaken, and train back to Lauterbrunnen. Explored town a bit, had fondue at Base Camp restaurant.
2) Murren, Allmendhubel, Gimmelwald, exploring Lauterbrunnen
3) Jungfraujoch, Eiger Express to Grindelwald Terminal, train to Grindelwald. Lunch. Cable car to First. Rode the mountain carts. Got stuck on the mountain due to lightening. Cable car finally started up again after 1.5 hours. Train back to Lauterbrunnen.
4) Tummelbach falls. Exploring Wengen.
What do you like to do on a day trip? Hiking? Riding to see scenery? Shopping?
Another vote for Restaurant Da Sina. We also loved Restaurant Caprice at the Maya Caprice hotel where we stayed.
It had by far the best food we ate in all of Switzerland.
We stayed for a full week and did day trips to Schilthorn, Murren and Gimmelwald one day, to Grindelwald and First another. A boat cruise to Gimmelbach Falls and lunch at the hotel there, a day trip to Schynige Platte and of course the best of all, a day spent doing the Mannlichen to Kleine Scheidegg walk. We had one wet day so went to Bern, but really it was too wet to even enjoy that, so I wish we'd found something else to do.
