I will be staying in Appenzell for 2 nights and would like to visit ebenalp, hotel aesher, seealpsee. What should be the order of doing this? Where should I hike and where should I take cable car to? I know I will probably take cable car up to ebenalp from Wasserauen but then what?
I am in late 20s and travelling alone , just fyi :)

We did this hike a few years ago with our family of five. We took the lift up to Ebenalp then hiked up to Berghaus Schaefler which is about an hour. Great views up there. From there you can head down to Berghaus Mesmer then Seealpsee then back to Wasserauen. You could shorten the hike by hiking down from Ebenalp through the Windkirche on your way down to Seealpsee. If you can spend a night at one of the berghauses it is completely worth it. I would check out the website www.ebenalp.ch for more info including hiking maps. Enjoy. It is beautiful.

Lucky you! We had hoped to do the same thing last month but weather changed our plans. We stayed at Aescher but couldn't hike to the lake. My research suggested taking the cable car up, the short hike to Aescher, enjoy a beverage or meal there on the deck with amazing views, hike down to Seealpsee, and back to Wasserauen to train back to Appenzell.
