Carrie: Yippee! Thanks for yet "another public service post" about Switzerland. Last year we did the STAUBBACHBÄNKLI walk when it was cloudy at the top of the Klein Scheidegg. It was a very pleasant walk along the road to the viewpoint.
It seems like there were flowers at every house along the route, either growing in the yard or in flower boxes. I wondered whether most people started their flowers from seeds..or as plants from a nursery, but then that would be difficult to transport without cars. It made me appreciate the flowers even more.

Carrie - thank you for these links; I’ve just bookmarked the summer hikes.

We’ll have 2 full days to hike here while on our July Alpine Europe My Way tour. So much pressure to figure out which hikes to choose!! My son and I are looking for moderate level, and I’ve already started training to get in shape for the trails.

Steven, I’m sure hoping I can do the Mannlichen to Kleine Scheidegg walk. The trail doesn’t open til mid June. I’ll be in Wengen June 10-14. I’m keeping my fingers crossed. The cable car starts up on May 26. So, at least I’ll be able to get up there. And I’m afraid it might be too early for cows. ☹

Carol, the STAUBBACHBÄNKLI walk is definitely on my list. I won’t have my sister and bro in law along this time. So, I should be able to get a lot more walking in.

Carla, be sure to check out the winter walks too. I’m not sure why they labeled those winter walks other than maybe you can do them in both winter and summer. They for sure can all be done in the summer. If you click on the arrow after each walk, it gives you the distance, time to walk, and directions. The walks from that first link are all an hour or less and seem pretty easy.

We will be staying in Lauterbrunnen for four nights in early September, and I'm getting information overload! It all looks so amazing.

I found a website with Lauterbrunnen Valley Hikes, compete with pictures and detailed instructions. Glad I printed it off, because now I can't find it. But, I did get a book called Walking in Switzerland's Berner Oberland that has great suggestions for what to do if you are there for 3, 4, 5 nights or more. Again, good detail on how to take transportation to get around to the various hikes.
