I am visiting Vevey (eastern Lake Geneva area) and I have my 85 year old father with me. I'd love to take him to see things but they need to be on trains or very limited walking distances (.5K or less). What are some beautiful places to see by train for day trips? Obviously we will go to see the Matterhorn. Other ideas?
Thanks for any help or suggestions.

It's been some years since we stayed there but it was a lovely quaint little place with more to offer the eye than simply the iron statue of Charlie Chaplin by the walkway at the water. At the time there was a Nestle chocolate HQ a block from our hotel, and easy local bus service to Montreux just up the main street to the east, where the jazz festival was in progress. The late Audrey Hepburn's former estate was up the road to the west, as well as a magnificent little gourmet restaurant (whose name I've sadly since forgot) nestled at the foot of a hill. If I make it to 85 in good nick I'll be delighted to revisit Vevey!
A boat ride to Chateau de Chillon in Montreux. A tourist train through the Lavaux vineyards.
