My husband and I are squeezing in as much Switzerland as we can in a few short days before we head for Italy, and we will not have a car. We are already booked for a few days in Mürren, and ultimately are going to end up in Milan. I was thinking of spending one overnight in Luzern - we would leave Mürren first thing in the morning, have the rest of the day in Luzern, spend the night, sight see for most of the day, then depart in the late afternoon for Milan via the IR 26 Treno Gottardo.
I see that hotels in Luzern are quite pricey, and I'm wondering if it would be better to stay in the city proper, or in one of the other towns around the lake (for example, Weggis or Vitznau)? It looks like we could stay in one of those towns and still catch the IR 26 in Brunnen.
