We are staying in Vevey and are wanting to visit the vineyards and try some of the wines. What would be the best way to plan this day?

We just visited Vevey last week. There is a bus that leaves next to the train station every 30 minutes and goes up to the town of Chexbres in the middle of the vineyards. From there you can walk downhill in either direction through the vineyards to one of the towns at the bottom and catch a train back to Vevey. We didn't do any wine tasting but know it can be done. There may be some organized trips as well. I suggest checking with the tourist office on the main square in Vevey about where and when to go for wine tasting. They were very helpful to us when we were there.
